If you want anti-democrat rhetoric, watch Fox News. If you want anti-republican rhetoric, watch CNN. I say “watch” because I find it so painful to listen to the constant extremism and conjecture.
John Adams rightfully stated, “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
I highly recommend Steven Pinker’s book, “Enlightenment Now”. My purpose in writing this article is to illustrate a summary of the hope & progress he covers so profoundly and beautifully.

When looking at the facts, we have reason to hope. Our humanity is finding a way!
Clearly, there are challenges, significant issues, often painful, that we need to continually seek to improve. There is a famous saying, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Of course, it is attributed to multiple people … Alan Kay, Dennis Gabor, Prigogine or even Abraham Lincoln. Regardless of the exact origin, the fact remains, decisions and actions determine our destiny. Whether you are a believer in the divine or an atheist, from my perspective, we will agree that we are to act and not be acted upon.
My hope is that this article will encourage each of us to remember to seek facts. To see tangible hope in our humanity! Finally, that we work together to eradicate issues in our families, neighborhoods, communities … We are a powerful force for good!
